Who would have thought that I would be playing drums in an all-girl Christian band? My single claim to fame before this blessing was wearing the crown of Miss Moses Lake, WA!
Married to Brent, my college sweetheart for 23 years and raising two wonderful children, Steven and Christina, who are now nearly on their own, has kept me more than busy.
Along with my duties as wife and mom, I have put my music degree to work for the past ten years as a teacher and director for the Christian Youth Theater of Spokane.
I have worked with many wonderful, talented kids and now have a private voice studio where I work with 30 students each week.
The connection with my Door of Hope sisters was surely God-ordained. After having studied voice in college I later discovered that rhythms were somewhat problematic for me.
Drum lessons seemed to be the answer. It wasn't long before I was recruited to play the drums for musical productions and that's where I met Heidi.
She told me that the band was looking for a drummer and asked me to pray about the possibility of joining the band.
After meeting the rest of the girls I knew immediately that this was a group of women I wanted to be with.
Just at a time when I was feeling a loss of some long-time relationships, God brought these new sisters into my life.
Psalm 68:6 declares, "God sets the lonely in families, He leads forth the prisoners with singing."
God has always delighted in using the most unlikely people in the most unexpected ways. When you commit your will to the Lord and delight yourself in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37:4,5) Just as one chapter of my life is closing and my children get ready to leave the nest, God gave me the gift of Door of Hope.
